The war had left a lasting reminder each time Broc Kinkaid saw his reflection in a mirror.  The scars of being shot in the face ended his showboat singing career.  Now he finds himself a drifter intent on finding the one responsible for changing his life.

In Broc’s search to find the one responsible for his disfigurement, he misses an opportunity to settle the score.  When Broc is taunted by a local town person about his scars, he unleashes all of his pent up rage at the injustice his life has experienced on the unexpected man.  The fight results in Broc breaking the man’s jaw and having to answer to a judge for the crime he committed.

The judge gave Broc an option to clear his name.  He offered him the opportunity to deliver a message to a family in Cactus Bend of a debt they had failed to pay.  It seemed an easy way to find the person who owed the debt, deliver the message, and then be able to clear his name.

Broc didn’t anticipate meeting Amanda Liscomb and her family.  The death of her father had forced her and her brother to work in the town saloon to earn enough money to keep their ranch from being sold.  Broc found it difficult to tell them their family owed a large debt.  He decided to help Amanda prove her father was innocent of the charge.

Amanda possessed a beauty Broc knew he would never be able to capture.  Amanda was able to see past Broc’s scars and straight into his heart.  Will she be able to convince him the love she feels for him is real?

Leigh Greenwood is a legendary author who provides the best his readers can hope to receive.  With each book I experience, I grow more in love with his writing style.  I feel he is an author who I have grown up with because he was one of the first romance authors I experienced while I was a teenager.  WHEN LOVE COMES is an exceptional historical romance. I immediately fell in love with Broc and Amanda, two wounded souls who deserved to find one another.  Once again, Leigh Greenwood has provided a book that has become a permanent fixture on my keeper shelf.

Indiana Cousin’s Series, Book 3, A Cousin’s Challenge

Author: Wanda E. Brunstetter

Publisher: Barbour Books
Purchase:  http://www.barbourbooks.com/product/Cousins-Challenge,396.aspx?Tab=Books

Two years ago, Jolene Yoder and her friends planned a visit to Hershey Park.  In a blink of an eye, their plans changed when the vehicle they were riding in left the road and crashed.  Jolene lost her hearing and was unable to keep her teaching position; she left to go live with her Aunt and Uncle to come to terms with her new silent world.

A message from her mother asks her to come back to her Amish hometown of Topeka, Indiana.   She learns that two deaf children have moved to her hometown and are in need of her help in order to attend the local school.  Jolene is reluctant to accept because it would mean she would go back home and see her friends, knowing that she would not be able to hear their voices. In Jolene’s heart she has always known teaching was her true calling.

Lonnie Hershberger and his family moved from Illinois to Indiana.  He is heartbroken that he had to leave behind his girlfriend Carolyn.  When he invites her to visit him in Indiana and she doesn’t come, he realizes that he must put his love for her behind him and move on with his new life in Indiana.

When Lonnie meets Jolene he feels an immediately immediate attraction to her.  He wonders if God has put him in Indiana in order to see the woman that was meant to be with him.  Will Jolene return Lonnie’s feelings?  Or is there someone else who has an interest in claiming Jolene’s heart?

A COUSIN’S CHALLENGE is the third and final installment of Wanda E. Brunstetter’s Indiana Cousins series.  It has been a long time since I have been so impressed by a series.  Wanda E. Brunstetter’s talented pen has created memorable characters that are truly unforgettable.  I have high hopes that one day the Hallmark channel turns the Indiana Cousins series into a Hallmark movie; I would love to sitback and actually be able to see this series on a live screen.

Thank you is two small words that offers’ a wealth of happiness and appreciation. When a person goes out of their way to thank a person it shows them that they appreciate their generosity.

Addie Johnson’s A Little Book of Thank Yous: Letters, Notes & Quotes is a beautiful example of a book that will reach out and touch your heart. It overflows with a potpourri of meaningful quotes, notes and letters that centers around how giving thanks rewards not only the receiver but the giver.

I was enchanted at all this book has to offer. As I read each offering I was amazed at how thought provoking each letter, note, or quote was, many times I caught myself rereading a passage I had just read to regain that feel good effect. There was one that really caught my eye and worth passing along. It includes:

“Every time we remember to say ‘thank you’, we experience nothing less than Heaven on earth.

In today’s economy, it is imperative that you find ways to save money any way possible. Buying food in bulk portions is cheaper then purchasing small individual servings. It enables the purchaser a means to stock up their food pantry. Some may fear that buying large amounts will be hard to manage; the solution to this dilemma comes in the form of the book Big Buy Cooking: The Food Lover’s Guide to Buying in Bulk and Using it All Up.

Big Buy Cooking: The Food Lover’s Guide to Buying in Bulk and Using it All Up consists of 75 recipes. Each one offers a fresh new outlet to explore the way to use large quantities of food items. The recipes this book contains will turn anyone into a cooking genius.

This book appeals to me because it allowed me to gain the knowledge of how to purchase big cost saving quantities and then know how to turn them into mouth watering meals before they go to waste. Being single, it can be intimidating to purchase more than what you are accustomed to buying. This book gives you the confidence you need to purchase those large quantities knowing what the end result will offer.

Some of my favorite recipes that I tried included: Peach and blueberry galette, pan-friend southwestern has, and a tropical mango sorbet. Each one of these was simple to prepare and delivered unbelievable results.

For anyone who is looking to save on their monthly food bill there is no better book to add to your recipe collection. This book will pay for itself in gaining the knowledge needed to handle large food quantities. The initial investment will become a priceless collection to your cooking library.
