Shell-ShockedsmShell Shocked

Pink Petal Books

In the name of freedom, Sean Dempsey had paid a price for serving his county.  In his tour of duty in Iraq he received scorched retinas and artificial knees. That ill-fated day refuses to leave his memory.  To keep his inner demons manageable he visits a local clinic where he receives medication.  It is during one of these visits he meets Gabriel Herne.

Gabriel is a double amputee; he doesn’t allow his disability to get him down.  He makes his living as a phone psychic.  When Sean introduces himself and offers to go get a cup of coffee with him, he readily agrees.  The attraction he feels for Sean is hard to mask.  He is overjoyed to find that Sean is experiencing the same feelings.

Gabriel invites Sean to his place.  There Sean discovers that Gabriel practices the Pagan religion.  Will this revelation be the wedge that will keep their new found love apart?  Or will it serve as a strong foundation to help build a solid relationship?

SHELL SHOCKED is one of the most unique stories this reviewer has ever read.  It provides an original plot with elements that you usually don’t see captured in one book.  I was overjoyed at how each one enhanced the story.  Sean and Gabriel are two wounded souls; together they are able to find some relief from the horrors the world has sent their way.  Angelia Sparrow and Naomi Brooks you have written a book that they should be highly proud of.  This enchanting tale provides readers a refreshing look at how romance can happen when you least expect it.  I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in search of a romance that offers an out of the box reading experience.

A fascinating journey of discovery awaits you in Cyndi Dale’s The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic Anatomy. By far this is the most in-depth collection of energy healing this reviewer has ever discovered.

What makes this book so unique is that it covers all of the top forms of holistic healing. Which includes chakras, energy meridians, acupuncture, reflexology, international healing, Ayurveda, Shiatsu, distant and hands on healing, energy fields, sacred geometry, color and sound healing, and magnetism. It is broken down into six easy to understand parts that include:

Part I: Energy and Energy Healing

Part II: Human Anatomy

Part III: Energy Fields

Part IV: Channels of Energy: Channels of Light

Part V: Energy Bodies: Chakras and other “Light Switches”

Part VI: Energy Practices

From the very first page I found that I was so mesmerized at all the knowledge that I was absorbing. With my background in healing touch and reflexology, I was able to quickly put to use the high quality illustrations that showed all the pulse points of the body.

No health care professional should be without a copy of Cyndi Dale’s The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic Anatomy. This book is such an asset to the health care world I believe it should be introduced into the college setting. If all health care providers were to be exposed to all the information that this one book offers, mankind’s health benefits would be unlimited. Very highly recommended.

destinyscaptiveDestiny’s Captive

By Kate Lyon

Leisure Books;  0843962836

Two young lives changed the day of the massacre at Baldwin Fort, Texas.  Fourteen year old Jeremiah Baldwin was captured and later sold to the Camancheros.  He was raised with the tribe and given the name Chikoba.  Angelina suffers from partial amnesia; she is unable to remember details of that horrific day.  She was found by Don Miguel Sanchez who raised her as his own daughter.

Years later, the great warrior Chikoba is grief stricken when he loses his wife and unborn child to a soldier’s invasion.  He turns to the Great Spirit to gain answers about his future.  Through a vision quest his prayers are answered by instructing him to return to the land that caused him such great sorrow.  This revelation forces him to make a decision to leave his Indian life, return to live as a white man, Jeremiah Baldwin.

In Baldwin Fort, Jeremiah finds there is nothing left of his past.  The land he once knew is now owned by Don Miguel Sanchez.  Jeremiah is attacked and left for dead.  Thinking he is upon death’s door an ‘Angel’ finds him and nurses him back to health.  Upon gaining full conscious he learns his angel’s name is Angeline Sanchez.  They both are survivors of the massacre at Baldwin Fort.  Angelina has blocked the memory from her mind.

Being with Jeremiah brings back memories Angelina has tried to forget.  Jeremiah is convinced that Don Miguel had something to do with the attack.  Angelina fights to prove that Don Miguel is innocent.  When the truth is revealed, will it be enough to keep these two young lovers apart?

Legendary names like Evelyn Rogers, Cassie Edwards and Bobbie Smith kept coming to my mind as I read DESTINY’S CAPTIVE.  I found that Kate Lyon’s writing ranked right up there with these historic icons.  DESTINY’S CAPTIVE literally took my breath away as it allowed me to revisit days gone by.  Both Jeremiah and Angelina are strong characters whose troubled past made them deserving to find one another.  I found myself holding my breath in high anticipation to see if these two would have a happily ever after.  I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a true appreciation for how a historic romance should be written.
